PATH to host Speaker's Corner and participate in presentations at Women Deliver conference

Thousands of individuals will gather in London this week for the Women Deliver conference, a landmark event marking the 20th anniversary of the launch of the Global Safe Motherhood Initiative. The conference will focus on creating political will to save the lives and improve the health of women, mothers, and newborn babies around the world.

PATH is proud to take part in this special event focusing on the health of women and babies. For thirty years, we have worked to develop and introduce technologies and strengthen health systems that will give mothers and babies around the world the opportunity to thrive.

Dr. Jacqueline Sherris, vice president of global programs at PATH, is taking part in the official launch of the Global Call to Stop Cervical Cancer, an international movement to raise awareness about cervical cancer and to galvanize the action necessary to ensure rapid access to newcervical cancer prevention tools. Other distinguished global civil society leaders participating in the launch are Judith Rodin, president, Rockefeller Foundation–United States of America; the Honorable Mary Robinson, chair, Realizing Rights, former president of Ireland; Dr. Maria Luisa Avila-Aguero, minister of health–Costa Rica; Jayanthi Natarajan, head of India office, International AIDS Vaccine Initiative; Dr. Dorothy Shaw, president, International Federation of Obstetricians and Gynecologists–Canada; and Daisy Mafubelu, assistant director-general, Family and Community Health, World Health Organization.

Dr. Sherris will also participate in a panel presentation entitled, “Cervical cancer prevention: achieving the promise of new tools and technologies.”

As a leader in preventing postpartum hemorrhage, PATH is convening a panel of experts to discuss the latest research on preventing and treating postpartum hemorrhage, the leading cause of maternal mortality. Panelists will present strategies and plans for moving the research findings into action and programs.

In addition, PATH is hosting the Speaker's Corner, a forum for organizations to present special events, campaigns, and reports and to announce exciting and innovative initiatives.
