Distinguished Vietnamese delegation visits PATH

Members of the Vietnamese Committee for International NGO Affairs (COMINGO) recently visited PATH’s headquarters in Seattle to learn more about our programs around the world and discuss our efforts in Vietnam. The delegation’s visit was part of a tour through Canada and the United States to meet with nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) that currently work in Vietnam.

During their July 3 visit, the delegates toured the PATH laboratory and product development shop, met with senior leadership and staff, and learned more about our work in developing innovative technologies for health. The group received a briefing about PATH’s work to introduce a vaccine in Vietnam to protect women from cervical cancer and they heard about our interface with pharmacistsand their staffs to strengthen that essential element of the health system—in Vietnam and around the world. The visitors also learned how PATH is helping countries control malaria through ourMACEPA project. We shared with them our plans for a donor trip to Vietnam in fall 2008 and discussed ways we can continue to serve the people of Vietnam.

About 500 foreign NGOs currently operate in Vietnam. COMINGO was established in 2001 to bring together key government ministries and other bodies to assist Vietnam’s prime minister in guiding and addressing issues relating to foreign NGOs in the country.
