Global Health Technologies Coalition launches new website
The Global Health Technologies Coalition (GHTC) has launched its new website,www.ghtcoalition.org, detailing health technologies and key issues for advancing global health innovations. Housed at PATH and funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation since spring 2009, GHTC includes more than 30 organizations advocating for research and development of tools to prevent, diagnose, and treat global diseases so health solutions are available when populations need them.
The coalition advocates for new vaccines, microbicides, drugs, devices, and diagnostics that will improve health in developing countries. Coalition members pursue advocacy for specific topics, including:
- Increased financing, coordination, and strategic investments by the US government in global health research and development.
- Streamlined regulatory processes to accelerate licensing of safe and effective global health technologies.
- Adoption of new market-based incentives to encourage investment by a variety of stakeholders, including the private sector, in global health research and development.
The new site offers numerous resources and can serve as a clearinghouse of information about coalition activities and global health research and development.
