PATH's 2011 annual report highlights milestone achievements

PATH’s most promising scientific breakthroughs and health solutions are featured in our just-released 2011 annual report—advances that touched the lives of nearly 75 million people around the world last year.

Pioneering Solutions, Lifesaving Results highlights our work in maternal and child health, vaccine development, health technologies, epidemic diseases, and other areas across more than 70 countries.

Improving health across the life span

Featured milestones in the report include:

  • Our cross-cutting efforts to promote proven malaria interventions and advance the development of malaria vaccines to help countries control malaria today and eliminate it in the future.
  • Our Sure Start Project, which reached 24.5 million people in India with information and interventions to protect the lives and improve the health of mothers and babies.
  • The ongoing campaign to reach young Africans with the new vaccine against meningitis A that we developed with the World Health Organization. By the end of 2011, more than 54 million people had received the lifesaving protection of the MenAfriVac™ vaccine.
  • New tools and strategies to tackle tuberculosis and to address the two biggest health threats to young children—diarrheal disease and pneumonia.

Innovations reach millions worldwide

In 2011, PATH and our partners reached 7.8 million people directly and 66.7 million people indirectly with our innovative strategies, technologies, and interventions. These beneficiaries included 4.8 million mothers, newborns, and infants; 8.3 million children and adolescents; and 5.4 million people living with HIV/AIDS or tuberculosis.

The report also features a summary of our 2011 finances, a snapshot of our largest projects, and information about our global presence, donors, and leadership, including our new president and CEO Steve Davis.
