- Packaging should protect contents from breakage during shipping and handling.
- Packaging volume is minimized to reduce distribution costs.
- Package graphics align with brand and product identity.
- Product setup and operating information is provided on packaging.
Key indicators
- Acceptable packaging strength ratings: stack height, burst strength, and water resistance.
- Packaging volume is minimized to reduce distribution costs.
- Packaging provides physical and environmental protection appropriate for distribution channels.
- Minimize nonbiodegradable packaging (styrofoam, plastic bags, etc.).
- Prospective buyers understand product features and benefits without opening packaging.
- Package descriptions are accurate and consistent with actual product.
Notes and exceptions
- Product packaging (boxes) may be retained by consumers for the life of the product.
