India and the impact of individuals
At every step along the way from an innovative idea to a program with worldwide impact, we rely on people like you. The importance of individuals shone out at the May 20 Breakfast for Global Health, where Dr. Benazir Patil shared stories of hope from India, her home country.
In India, PATH's Sure Start project is helping new mothers give birth safely and keep their children healthy—including Pranita Ingole, a shy young woman from Maharashtra who gave birth and is caring for a baby boy with assistance from PATH-trained community workers. We hope to reach more than a million women and children in the next five years.
Innovation funding from our donors helped us build a strong base for projects like Sure Start. Since 2003, the size of our India program has more than doubled. With your support, among many other projects, we are:
- Bringing clean, safe water to slums.
- Making sure HIV prevention is as pervasive as AIDS itself.
- Helping immunize more than 30 million children against a devastating disease.
Get involved by reading Pranita's story, learning more about Sure Start, or visiting our virtual Breakfast for Global Health. Or come to India with us in 2009, through PATH Journeys.
It is you who make our work possible . . . transforming the world, from innovation to impact. Donate to PATH today.
