Dr. Elias was president and chief executive officer of PATH from 2000 to 2012, leading our work in more than 70 countries to foster innovative programs and collaborative partnerships focused on health technologies, maternal and child health, reproductive health, vaccines and immunization, and emerging and epidemic diseases. Before joining PATH, Dr. Elias served as the Population Council's country representative in Thailand, managing reproductive health programs throughout Southeast Asia. Early in his career, Dr. Elias spent two years in Thailand working with refugee assistance programs. Early in my career, right after my medical training, I worked in the pediatric ward of a hospital for refugees on the Thai-Cambodian border.
