LEAD Thurston County Distinguished Leader Award
LEAD Thurston County (which includes Olympia, the capitol of Washington State) is an organization dedicated to preparing people for community leadership roles. In 2008, LEAD honored PATH with its Distinguished Leader award. The award recognizes individuals and organizations that demonstrate leadership through outstanding initiative, significant community impact, and inspiration to others.
Tech Museum of Innovation Award
In 2007, the Tech Museum of Innovation honored PATH once again as a laureate for our work with the vaccine vial monitor. In 2003, the museum named PATH a winner of the prestigious Tech Museum Award: Technology Benefiting Humanity for our work on the Uniject™ device. In Silicon Valley, where technology is considered a way of life, The Tech Museum Awards were developed to recognize the need to bridge existing technology in emerging countries and emerging technologies in developed countries.
Global Health Research Ambassador
PATH president and CEO Christopher J. Elias, MD, MPH, was named Global Health Research Ambassador by the Paul G. Rogers Society for Global Health Research in 2007. The title is bestowed upon 27 of the nation’s foremost experts in global health, united in advocating for greater US investment in global health research.
Social Entrepreneur of the Year
PATH president and CEO Christopher J. Elias, MD, MPH, was selected as “Social Entrepreneur of the Year” for the United States in 2006 by the Schwab Foundation. Schwab’s social entrepreneurs are recognized for the innovation, scope, replicability and sustainability, and direct positive social impact of their work.
United Nations Population Award
In 2006, Dr. Halida Hanum Akhter, then chair of PATH’s board of directors, won the United Nations Population Award. The award goes to individuals and institutions in recognition of their work in population and improving the health and welfare of individuals.2005 Human Rights Award
PATH received the 2005 Human Rights Award, an honor bestowed by the Seattle chapter of the United Nations Association and the City of Seattle Commission for Human Civil Rights. The annual award recognizes individuals or organizations that contribute to the advancement of human rights above and beyond the call of duty and with diverse and innovative ideas. PATH was honored for our distinguished work over the years in global health, according to UN Association chapter president Richard Blakney, MPH. Amazon.com Nonprofit Innovation Award finalist
In 2005, PATH was selected by Amazon.com as one of the ten most innovative nonprofits in the world. This award recognizes nonprofit organizations whose innovative approaches and breakthrough solutions most effectively improve their communities or the world at large. Amazon.com selected the ten finalists from a field of nearly 1,000 organizations, in partnership with the Center for Social Innovation at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
Heroes of Health Care Award
In 2003, the Washington Health Foundation awarded PATH its “Heroes of Health Care Award for Innovation.” The award was created to honor people and organizations from across the state of Washington that have dedicated themselves to making a significant difference in the lives of those around them. PATH received the award for creating new approaches to improving health in the developing world.
